James C. Piatt, President

Jim Piatt worked for US Customs and CBP for 44 years and hails from a Customs family. His father, Cecil Piatt, was in Customs 31 years and Jim’s son, Richard has been in Customs for over 25 years. Jim was in the Senior Executive ranks of Customs for 16 years and served as the Regional Commissioner of the Southwest Region, where he held responsibility for the Mexican border for the states of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.

Bob served in the US Customs Service for over 30 years before retiring in 1994. He was the founding President of the National US Customs Museum Foundation in 2008 and continues to lead the Foundation as we expand our mission.

Steven W. Hooper, Treasurer

Steven Hooper is a retired Special Agent in Charge for the U.S. Customs Service, having served in Houston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and at agency headquarters in Washington, D.C. Since his retirement, he has worked as a consultant for the U.S. Departments of Treasury, State, Justice and Homeland Security. His interest in the history of the U.S. Customs Service has resulted in the publication of many articles and presentations before various civic organizations. Steven is a member of the Texas State Historical Association and the Galveston Historical Foundation.

Chuck Dodge, Secretary

Chuck Dodge worked as a Special Agent for Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs before its transformation into the DEA, before his service in U.S. Customs. For the past 13 years he has been the Executive Director of the Association of Former Customs Special Agents. Most recently he has taken on the task of Curator of the National Storage Site for Historical Customs artifacts and items.
